Sunday night it was the Golden Globes. It seems like that is the start of every week there being some kind of entertainment show giving themselves awards. Did you know that yesterday was the children's literature awards day? Yesterday the Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, Coretta Scott King and other awards were announced?
I myself get a more excited about those awards than the ones that are televised. What do adults think are the best books for kids from past year. I was surprised this year and something happened that I have only seen happen once before (I have only seriously been following the awards for 15 years) a book won the Newbery and got honorable mention in Caldecott. LAST STOP ON MARKET STREET was the big winner in the Newbery category.
So check out the list of winners and add to your To Be Read list.
